Thinking about upgrading to a Rockshox Argyle 318 fork...

Rock_shox_argyle_318_horizontal

I'm thinking about upgrading the fork on my 2007 Night Train to the Rockshox Argyle 318, which is the fork that comes standard on the 2008 Night Train. The Dirt Jumper III on my bike is a nice fork, but I've heard really good things about the Argyle 318. And besides, a WHITE fork would look trick on my bike ;-)

5 month update...

Night_train_pose

I've been riding my Night Train for a little over 5 months now and couldn't be more pleased with it. I haven't been doing any dirt jumping at all.... instead I've been spending a lot of time on my pump track and one of the local tracks. I love this bike for that type of riding. It handles better than any bike I've owned.

Just for the heck of it, I've changed over to Diety handlebars and I'm trying out some new Eastern Plastic Pedals. So far so good, but its probably more of an asthetic change than anything.

And a quick update, it looks like Jenson USA has finally sold out of the 2007 model Night Train, so you will have to go with the 2008 model. If you are looking for something a little less expensive, checkout the Eastern BushHog for $849 or the Eastern Thunderbird for $699.

The 2008 Eastern Night Trains are now available!

Nighttrain_side_by_side

The new 2008 Eastern Night Train is finally available at JensonUSA for $1199. The bike looks very cool with several changes over the 2007 model... lots of Eastern parts this year, a new front fork, and some small changes to the frame itself.

Click Here for a comparison chart of the 2007 model and the new 2008 model.

They also have some of the 2007's left for $899, or if you are looking for something a little less expensive, checkout the Eastern Thunderbird for $699.

Night Train assembly complete...

I finally got a chance over the weekend to get the Night Train assembled. Here she is...

The Night Train comes standard with Eastern ID grips and red Eastern pedals, which are both real nice. But I pretty much run the same pedals and grips on all my bikes, so as you can see in the photos above, I've already switched to ODI Lock On Oury grips and Animal Hamilton pedals.

Now if the weather will cooperate, I might actually get a chance to ride! Stay tuned...

My Eastern Night Train has arrived!

Well, I ordered from Jenson USA a week ago and my 2007 Eastern Night Train showed up today. Here's what I got...

The bikes comes boxed up really well (click photo to enlarge)...

Here's what's inside the box...notice how everything is packaged really nicely and the entire bike is covered in protective material to protect it during shipment (click photo to enlarge)...

After removing all of the protective material here's what you get. The bike is pretty much completely assembled. You just need to mount the pedals, seat, handlebar, and wheels (click photo to enlarge)...

I am going to get her assembled in the next day or so, and probably drop it off at my LBS to make sure everything is adjusted/assembled correctly. Stay tuned...
